We recorded the hole thing in less than a week at the Spirithouse Recording Studio, no click tracks, almost all first takes, It's called "Poisoner". Here's the Track List:

Dirty Little Heart
Poisoner
A Brighter Hole
Racing Backwards
War
Run Run Run
You Bring the Words
Home
Bound
Love Song
Sing It
The Fight and the Fire

I would guess it will come out towards the end of the year.

On May 25th at 8:30 in the morning i'll be talking about the new record and playing live on Air America. It will be on the Rachell Maddow show. I'm super exited, Rachell is a wonderful person and an absolute brilliant radio presence.

2005/2006

This past year, my band Ware River Club decided to throw in the towel. This was a tough thing to do for me but we felt it ran it's course. We had a good run, 3 records that we're all really proud of, 6 or 7 tours in the states, and meeting and befriending a bunch of great bands and people. I'll miss the band but am very exited about the next stage of this trip.

I released "Sugar on the Edge" under my own name this year, an album that is mostly made up of songs that never made WRC records. It got positive reviews and seemed like a good way to launch my solo career. I also did my first solo tour this year which went well if well can be defined as winning over the 50 people that saw me play on the entire tour.

I was very proud to be involved in a few benefit concerts for the people of New Orleans, I've been to that great city five times and have always been blown away by it's amazing spirit and culture. I look forward to visiting again.

2006 will bring an album of new material that will either be called "Poisoner" or "Love is in the Air" (the status of the title will change hundreds of time beetween now and it's release). We'll start recording it the day after Valentine's day at Spirithouse studios with my good friend Danny Bernini. Since "Sugar on the Edge" was compiled of old songs and the last WRC record "Cathedral" was done a few years ago, I'm weeding throught roughly 35 songs for this record; here are a few titles that are confirmed, "Poisoner", "Dirty Little Heart, "Run Run Run", "Godspeed" ,"War" and "Home is where you hang yourself". I'll keep you posted.

My friend John told me to do this blog thing more so my new years resolution is to update once a week.

Here's a list of some music, films and books that I liked in 2005

Music
The Everybodyfields
National Carpet
Haley Bonar
Winterpills
Silver Jews
R Kelly

Film
Crash
King Kong
Land of the Dead
A History of Violence
Sin City
Kung Fu Hustle

Books
Henry Miller
Stephen Crane
Emily Dickenson

Happy Holidays
Matt

Facing Fears

Once, in the Bahamas, I swam a half of a mile out into the ocean and did a backfloat for an hour at 2 in the morning (feeding time), to face my crippling fear of sharks. I was wasted, so this was definately liquid courage. The next morning when I remembered what I did, I nearly fell to the ground.
I mention this because with the release of "Sugar on the Edge" and indefinate touring slated to start in the fall, I'm unfortunately gearing up to face another crippling fear, driving. I drive around town just fine, the roads well traveled no problem, but send me to Boston and you might never see me again or maybe I'll just be having a panic attack in the breakdown lane. Most of the shows will be with Bob but I cant expect him to drive for 6 weeks straight. People keep telling me I'll get used to it after a couple of days but I'm weary. Wish me luck.

Here's what we have so far, see ya out there
Jul 16, Iron Horse Music Hall Northampton, MA
Jul 19, Grape St Pub Philadelphia, PA
Jul 20, World Café Philadelphia, PA
Jul 22, Cyber West Café Binghamton, NY
Jul 23, Pete's Candy Store Brooklyn, NY
Jul 28, Dreamaway Lodge Becket , MA
Jul 30, Abbey Lounge Cambridge, MA
Aug 2,Toad Cambridge, MA
Aug 9, Toad Cambridge, MA
Aug 13, The Brass Cat Easthampton, MA
Aug 16, Toad Cambridge, MA
Aug 17, Pete's Candy Store Brooklyn, NY
Aug 19, Jonathan's Resturaunt Ogunquit, ME
Aug 23, Toad Cambridge, MA
Aug 25, Dreamaway Lodge Becket , MA
Aug 27, Ralph's Diner Worcester, MA
Aug 30, Toad Cambridge, MA
Sep 3, Westfield Common Westfield , MA
Sep 6, Bishop's Lounge Northampton, MA
Sep 10, The Brass Cat Easthampton, MA
Sep 14, The Skellig Waltham, MA
Sep 21, Trash Bar Brooklyn, NY
Sep 25, Sadlack's Raleigh, NC
Sep 29, Poe's Pub Richmond, VA
Oct 6, North Star Bar Baton Rouge, LA
Oct 13, Delta of Venus Davis, CA
Oct 14, KDVS "Cool as folk" RadioSacremento, CA
Oct 14, Black Cat Bar Penngrove, CA
Oct 18, Dante's Portland , OR
Oct 21, Neurolux Boise, ID

It's Record Time

It's time to put out a record.
